Two of our undergraduate students have won scholarships to a prestigious summer course in Prague. Third year Sheryll Goddard and second year Boglarka Kosztolanyi will travel to the Czech Republic capital in August to take part in Journey, a programme run by the Bakala Foundation in which promising students are given the chance to work with and learn from top media professionals.
There are just 20 scholarship places available, and Sheryll and Boglarka have done fantastically well to earn their invitations based on a rigorous application process for which they had to submit an idea for a project that they will work on during the course.
They will enjoy a series of workshops on current trends and tools used in reporting, data collection and analysis, investigative journalism and many more aspects of modern media work as well as a number of exercises, in real newsroom conditions. Senior staff from CNN, the Wall Street Journal, Storyful and Sourcefabric will be among those leading the workshops and mentoring students.
Huge congratulations to both.
