Tanya Gold's take on the royal family's ability to project an impression of thrift while spending vast sums of public money is, in my humble republican opinion, the most entertaining published response to the appeal court's ruling that Prince Charles's correspondence with Tony Blair's cabinet should be published. The Guardian's leader on the topic of the so-called 'black spider' memos is also a stimulating read. I suspect the attorney general has a real fight on his hands. His argument appears to be that we must not know what Prince Charles's most passionate political opinions are because he is not supposed to have political opinions, and that his correspondence must therefore be suppressed because it might compromise the public's impression of his political neutrality. Convoluted or simply deluded? You choose.
We have received the following message which may be of interest:
I am writing to you today as we have a number of journalistic opportunities which may be of interest to your students at University of Kent.
I work for a digital media company which has produced two websites on behalf of one of our clients, londonolympics2012.com and thesportfeed.com (BETA). As project manager for these websites I am charged with the task of getting together a team of content providers and wondered whether any of your students would be interested in working on these websites over the summer months.
As well as providing content, we have a number of opportunities to attend official Olympic press calls and to interview some of the leading personalities in the build-up to the London Olympic games. We are currently looking for people to attend interview opportunities with Dame Kelly Holmes, the Great Britain Hockey team, the Great Britain Judo team and Paul Deighton, the CEO of LOCOG.
Further to that, we are willing to offer full-time work placement opportunities to interested students based in our Lancaster offices during the London Olympigames.
Whilst this work is unpaid, it does offer a fantastic opportunity to get valuable work experience and get work published. If any of your students would be interested in these exciting opportunities they can contact me on any of the contact details below.
