First year: Favourite moments

By Rebecca Hughes - Posted on 14 May 2009

Now I don't mean to go all sentimental and soppy on you lot, but I've been thinking...

(set off the sirens)

Our first year is coming to an end. I think we all knew that it would be a giggle from the moment we got here and Alan accidentally dropped his pink condom on the floor, in the middle of a quiet library tour, all the way through to today's comment from Kelsey saying "There's a bit of chicken in my sandwich. What if I was a vegetarian?" as she tucked into her ham sandwich... And as easily as I could turn this into one of Stuart's 137 of my favourite moments list, I'm not going to. I think we should save them and embrace the multimedia world by creating a big and beautiful video containing all these thoughts.

I realise everyone is super busy at the moment with exams etc., but I thought maybe after our Public Affairs exam we can all meet up in the newsroom for the last time before everyone catches their planes, or drives off home for the summer. Then everyone can spend five minutes filming their favourite moments of the year. I'll even bribe you with Ben's cookies - the ones we were discussing today - and after take the party back to mine for a BBQ and goodbyes.

I'd really like everyone's pretty little face to be in it and I'd especially like to see Nick wear his baby blue CfJ jumper - where is it hiding?!

Let me know what you think, my lovelies.

p.s. sorry if you're not in the picture, but I don't have one of everyone. Another reason to turn up!

I would like to add a finest moment of our first year which occured about a minute ago. Rob stapling his own finger with the stapler in the newsroom. Checking to see if there were any staples in it, Rob forgot where his finger was, pushed down and .......squish. He is currently out of the newsroom nursing his finger....and his pride. He has now entered the newsroom, covering his finger in a tissue. Bless.

I didn't forget where my finger was, as such. I was checking if there was any staples in it and it kind of slipped.

I was hoping that incident would fade into obscurity but I guess it will always be remembered. I have a track record of embarassing myself anyway so i suppose it was in keeping with previous form.

I shall ease my pain with Millie's (better than Ben's) cookies.

It's going to stick with you, like a piece of chewing gum on the sole of your shoe.

I burnt it.

don't worry - you can borrow my yummy yellow one.

And Rob - super! Welcome aboard!

When I finished my final year of college we did the same thing, well, sort of unknowingly. The girl that decided to do it didn't tell anyone else and caught us all... natural and put a really good song over the top.

It is, in fact, on Facebook... but I untagged myself, such is my shame. Ha!

One of my favourite moments is probably the nice removals man me and James encountered in Gillingham.

And I still loves Stuart's face in this picture! So bloody manly!
