Shorthand Classes Summer Term

Shorthand classes will continue across all year groups during the Summer term. Year 1 will be one combined group.  The rooms, however, will be different as indicated below and will all be in the Drill Hall Library

NCTJ Public Affairs Exam - Important

The Public Affairs exam is being held on 10 June. The deadline for applications is Monday 19 May.  All year 1 students, Postgrads and anyone wishing to resit should email me with confirmation that they wish to be entered for this exam as soon as possible. 

Revision Sessions

Revision Sessions have so far been scheduled for modules JN300, JN302, JN500, JN512, JN513, JN815, JN805 and JN510 for next term.  The dates and venues are all on the calendar.

Conference Thursday 13 March

Both UG and PG conferences are cancelled tomorrow Thursday, 13 March.  This is due to an NCTJ exam and the year 3 60 sec bulletin.

Year 1 Shorthand Combined Group Friday

The combined year 1 shorthand group on Friday from 10.00 - 11.00 will be held in G3-05 commencing this Friday, 20 February.

Talk by Rob Smith BBC South East - 12 February

Rob Smith, BBC South East presenter, is giving a talk to Kent students about his life and career on 12 February at 11.00 in G4-03.

David Welch Student Sportswriter Competition

10 February is the deadline for the above competition which is open to all writers but must be (even obliquely) on the subject of sport.  Win work experience at the Daily Telegraph and BT Sport. Trophy to be presented at Sports Journalist of the Year award.  For more information go to

Talk by Andey Davey, Sun Cartoonist PK008 5 February at 1pm

Andy Davey, cartoonist at The Sun, will be visiting the Campus to give a talk on 5 February at 1pm in PK008.  He will talk about how much freedom a cartoonist has on the subject depicted in relation to the editorial agenda as well as the power and influence cartoons can have in conveying a message.  The talk will be about 45 minutes long followed by Q&A.
