2015 Bob Friend Memorial Scholarship

First year students have until 4pm on Monday 9 February to submit their entries for the most prestigious prize available to journalism undergraduates in the UK: the annual Sky Bob Friend Memorial Scholarship. Shortlisting will take place soon afterwards and candidates who make the shortlist will meet a panel chaired by Neil Dunwoodie, Executive Producer Sky News.

The prize is £3,500 and a fully-funded four week internship at Sky News. Previous winners include Alan McGuinness, who now works at Sky News, Tania Steere who is a reporter on the Daily Mail and former Medwire Editor Jemma Collins, now a reporter with KMTV. The 2015 Scholar will receive their prize from Neil Dunwoodie at the 2015 Bob Friend Memorial Lecture.

This will take place on the evening of  Monday 2 March in the Pilkington Lecture Theatre here on the Medway Campus. This year's lecture will take the form of a Q & A with John Humphrys, presenter of BBC Radio 4's Today Programme, in discussion with Adam Boulton of Sky News. The scholar, together with their parents and family, attends the lecture and the VIP reception that precedes it. If you need any guidance with your entry, please ask me, Ian, Richard, Rob or Lee. We will be delighted to help.
